George Lopez has been on our TV screens for many years now between his acting and comedy gigs. Since the 59-year-old is continuing to make us laugh with all of his talents, there’s been questions from fans about his personal life, specifically, if he has kids or not. Does George Lopez have kids?
Yes, George Lopez is a proud dad to a daughter named Mayan Lopez. She was born on April 2, 1996, so that makes her 24 years old today. The actor and comedian previously welcomed his daughter with his ex-wife, Ann Serrano. Mayan is George’s only child.
We bet George and Mayan are very close despite the fact that he never shares photos of her on his Instagram account considering they have something very special in common… they’re both actors! Back in 2007, Mayan famously made a guest appearance on her father’s show George Lopez as the character Jackie in an episode titled George Rocks to the Max and Gets Diss-Band-ed.
Her acting career continued after that because she’s also been in the movie Mr. Troop Mom, Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie, TMI Hollywood, Jersey, and the upcoming movie Kill Her! Mata La! She additionally appeared on an episode of Celebrity Family Feud in 2017.
While we do not know much else about Mayan’s personal life (she’s not on Instagram!), we do know that she’s an only child, and by what her father has said in the past, just because they have fame and fortune doesn’t mean she’s spoiled.
George has taken the stage numerous times throughout his career to mock kids today and parenting, but back in 2013, the father-of-one elaborated on the theory behind Mexican parenting, which is his nationality.
“They raise us to be tough, that’s why our kids are not spoiled,” he said. “We don’t give a f–k, we’re not there to entertain our kids.”
George added: “That’s how we raise them. Tough with values that’s how we do it. Old school. We raise them old school but new school, we teach them right now. They’re not going to get spoiled.”
Is George Lopez married?
No, George is not currently married. He was previously hitched to his first and only wife and Mayan’s mom, Ann Serrano, from 1993 until their divorce in 2011 (Ann cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their split in November 2010).
Fans were surprised by the breakup considering Ann donated her kidney to George a few years prior after he suffered a condition that deteriorated his kidneys. That said, at the time, the couple released a statement regarding their split after 17 years.
“George and Ann Lopez have made the decision to end their 17-year marriage,” they said. “The decision is amicable and by mutual agreement. They remain dedicated parents, and committed partners in business and their philanthropic organization, The Lopez Foundation.”
George is not publicly dating anybody new at this time.
