Throughout the last few years, people have been more open to discuss mental health and mental illness. After years of living with a mentally ill brother, actress Diane Keaton is finally talking about their relationship, and how mental illness has affected him as a person.

Diane is currently 74 years old. Her brother, John Randolph Hall (known as “Randy”) is 71. At one time, Diane reached out to him every week. He’s currently being cared for in a facility and has been battling dementia for years.

It’s the reversal of the life that Diane has been living. Known best for movies like Annie Hall, The First Wives Club, Father of the Bride, and Baby Boom, her career has always been stable. Randy, on the other hand, had a life that — according to his sister — was “on the other side of normal.”

Just recently, she wrote a memoir on her relationship with Randy. Called Brother & Sister, she was tempted to find out more regarding the mystery of her brother.
