Gordon Hartman will never forgot the day he watched his daughter, Morgan, struggling to make friends and fit in at a public swimming pool. Morgan, who is on the autism spectrum, was 12 years old at the time.

Gordon desperately wanted to see his daughter thrive in this social situation, but the other kids at the pool simply did not know how to interact with her.

Instead of joining her peers in their day of fun, it was as if she was just a spectator watching from the sidelines.

The heartbroken father went home and set off on a new mission. He wanted to find a public place where Morgan — and other children just like her — could socialize and not feel isolated, misunderstood, or uncomfortable.

But the more Gordon looked around, the more it became clear that the place he was envisioning just didn’t exist.

So he built one himself.

Gordon sold his business, took countless meetings, and spent endless hours on his creation. In 2007, he began construction on his $35 million theme park.

Three years later, Morgan’s Wonderland was complete — and wait until you see what it looks like today.
