One Canadian family was recently delighted to discover that a raccoon had blessed them with its presence. The happy little guy was having the time of his life while sunbathing on the family’s awning and appears pretty unbothered when the family decides to film his antics. And truly, the guy knows how to pick the best spot!
People who love raccoons might enjoy knowing that there are actually six different species of the critter that are native to North and South America. The Procyon lotor, or common raccoon, is the one that most Americans will recognize as their friendly neighborhood trash sifter.
If the idea of having a pet raccoon freaks you out, know this: Even President Calvin Coolidge had one in the White House! At the time, some people ate raccoon meat, and it’s believed that was why the raccoon was originally brought over. However, once he saw how cute the raccoon was, Calvin Coolidge decided to adopt her instead. The family named their new pet Rebecca, and she became part of a pack of wild animal pets that included a bobcat, a goose, a donkey, two lion cubs, an antelope, and a wallaby.
Enjoy the video below, and may we all, one day, be as blissed-out as this lucky little guy.
