Mike Schultz is a nurse from San Francisco. At 190 pounds, he was incredibly active, fit and healthy, and he worked out nearly every single day.
In early March 2020, the 43-year-old nurse flew to Miami Beach for a music and dance festival. He knew he could possibly catch the virus at such a large gathering, but he figured he’d be able to fight it off like a cold.
Mike ended up contracting coronavirus and spent nearly six weeks hooked up to a ventilator.
He had pneumonia and reduced lung capacity. He was weak, shaky, and completely incapacitated.
He lost 50 pounds of muscle mass and likened himself to a skeleton. As you’re about to see through his series of selfies, COVID-19 dramatically changed his body.
Though his selfies were taken from identical angles, one was taken a few weeks before he got sick. TheĀ other photo was taken while he was still recovering.
Now, Mike is sharing these shocking before-and-after photos to warn the general public just how dangerous the virus can be.
