According to NBC Los Angeles, three people recently after being swept off steep rocks while fishing along the shoreline in Malibu, California.
Ventura County Sheriff’s Captain Eric Buschow spoke with the Los Angeles Times: “Unfortunately, it can be a dangerous place because it is very rocky and the beach and sand slopes straight down. Things can look very calm one moment, but every once in a while you can have a large wave that can crash down upon you.”
Just days later, a pair of newlyweds wanted to celebrate their nuptials with a photo shoot on Treasure Island Beach in Laguna Beach, about 80 miles from the Malibu tragedy.
The couple decided to pose on a large rock during high tide. And just as their photographer snapped away, a giant wave came up over the rock, slammed right into the newlyweds and instantly threw them both out to sea.
The incident was captured on camera by a bystander who shouted “Oh my God” in the seconds before the wave hit.
