Carlin Bates is opening up about some of the struggles her newborn daughter has faced. Carlin is the 21-year-old daughter of Gil and Kelly Jo Bates. The Bates are friends of the Duggar family and the subject of their own reality show, Bringing Up Bates. Carlin is the ninth out of the nineteen Bates family children. The family is unique in not having any multiples among their big brood.
Carlin and husband Evan Stewart welcomed their first child, daughter Layla Rae Stewart, on January 31. Carlin wasn’t due to give birth until mid-February. She was induced after discovering she has the same two blood-clotting disorders as older sister Erin Paine.
Carlin and Evan immediately took to life as new parents. They recently revealed that their road hasn’t been an easy one. Layla has faced some health struggles during her first few months that have had the couple relying heavily on their faith to get through.
