Brad Pitt made an appearance at the National Board of Review’s recent gala to accept the best supporting actor award for his critically-acclaimed role in “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.”

Bradley Cooper was also on-hand, not only to deliver Pitt’s award, but he also had some very kind words to say about his longtime friend and fellow actor.

“Bradley just put his daughter to bed and then rushed over to do this,” Pitt said after Cooper introduced him onstage.

The pair have a lot in common, both professionally and personally.

Cooper has spoken candidly about his 15 years of sobriety. In 2012, he told the Hollywood Reporter that he stopped drinking alcohol at the age of 29 after finally coming to terms with the reality of his addiction.

As for Pitt, he recently told The New York Times that he, too, struggled with alcohol abuse after his divorce from Angelina Jolie.

In the clip below, Pitt reveals publicly for the first time how Cooper played a major part in his own journey towards recovery
