Carrie O’Connor had her whole life ahead of her. She had just celebrated her 38th birthday. She had just moved into a brand new apartment with her two cats, ready for a new chapter.

The Boston University French lecturer loved to read, teach the French language, and travel the world.

But just a few weeks after moving into her new place, an unthinkable tragedy occurred.

According to reports, Carrie was down in the basement of her apartment building trying to fit a large package into the elevator carriage. She was struggling with the package.

Suddenly, a nearby neighbor heard an “ungodly scream,” ran into the hallway and saw a frantic man shouting for help and on the brink of hyperventilation.

Nothing could prepare the residents, the police officers who arrived on scene, or Carrie’s loved ones, for the accident that had just occurred.
