Billionaire Is Giving Commencement Speech When He Drops Bombshell About Every Student’s Debt

Like many college students, 22-year-old finance major Aaron Mitchom spent much of his experience living off peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. His entire family (including his 76-year-old grandmother) took turns co-signing his loans.

Aaron calculated it would take 25 years at half his monthly salary to pay back his $200,000 in student loans.

He’s just one of this year’s 400 graduating seniors from Morehouse College in Atlanta, an all-male black college. The 2019 commencement speaker was Robert F. Smith, a billionaire technology investor and philanthropist from Denver — and a man about to change the lives of everyone in attendance.

First, Robert announced his $1.5 million gift to the school. He also received an honorary doctorate from Morehouse during the ceremony.

But little did the graduates know that Robert was about to drop a bombshell.

“On behalf of the eight generations of my family that have been in this country, we’re gonna put a little fuel in your bus,” he began.

In seconds, the staff and students were left in a state of utter shock. Then the collective cheers and tears began.
