Trinity D’Autorio is a beautiful 3-year-old girl who has been battling cancer for most of her young life. She was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at just 2 years old and has lost her hair due to her chemo treatments.

Trinity recently went up to her dad and said that she missed her hair. It’s a sentiment that ultimately led her to forming a new bond with a band of unlikely heroes.

For the past year, fishing captain Terry Russo, along with two other captains and two of his first mates, have been growing their hair out. They’ve been on a mission to help Trinity and other children enduring chemotherapy. Minimum requirements for hair donation typically range from 8 to 14 inches. The fisherman were more than happy to step up and see just how long their locks could grow before sitting down in the salon chair with Locks of Love.

Boating captain Derek Thomas, who was one of the five men donating his hair, told FOX13, “If anybody can help a child, that’s our future. So if we can help a child, that’s great.”

The hair collected from these burly do-gooders will make at least four or five new wigs.

In the clip below, watch the fishermen meeting Trinity at Great Clips in South Tampa, Florida — and learn how Terry and his team went far beyond their incredible hair donations.
