Alec Baldwin has five kids: daughters Ireland and Carmen, and sons Romeo, Leonardo, and Rafael. Ireland’s mom is actress Kim Basinger, who Alec was married to from 1993 to 2002. Carmen, Romeo, Leonardo, and Rafel are Alec’s children with his current wife, Hilaria Baldwin.

Alec and Ireland haven’t always had the easiest relationship, but it seems that the tides have been turning lately. Ireland said that this is in part because of the impact that the sudden deaths of Kobe and Gianna Bryan had on her.

While speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Ireland said, “[In light] of recent events that have happened within the last couple of weeks, with Kobe, it’s like, ‘What’s the [expletive] point of arguing?’ There’s no point. So let’s all just get over it and hug that person you love.”

She also added, “You never know what’s going to happen to somebody, and it all comes down to love. Nothing else matters.”

Back in 2007, Alec left a pretty horrible voicemail for his daughter that caused a “permanent break” between the two. Ireland was only 11 when Alec called her a “rude, thoughtless, little pig” for missing a phone call with him. Amazingly, the two have been able to heal the wound that the voicemail created.

Ireland shared that, “It definitely took a lot of time and a lot of therapy. We were both in really dark places in our lives. I think things being publicized the way that they were made it all seem a lot more heightened and escalated than it really was cause that obviously puts an added pressure on to any situation that people are going through, privately, when it’s made public.”
