David Blaine recently performed his craziest stunt yet, and it’s been 10 years in the making.

When he announced his new “Ascension” project, he thought he’d be sailing 18,000 feet in the air over the Great Basin Desert in Page, Arizona. On a bunch of balloons.

And that’s exactly what he did, only he flew up to nearly 25,000 feet. While strapped to 52 helium-filled weather balloons.

The 47-year-old magician and illusionist didn’t release his parachute until he got down to 7,000 feat.

After 500 practice rounds, Blaine was finally ready to live-streamed the stunt on YouTube for the entire world to see.

Risking a ground collision, hypothermia, and a dangerous lack of oxygen, he dedicated the death-defying stunt to his 9-year-daughter who was watching from the ground below.
