In 2019, it is become pretty hard to impress us with plastic surgeries. It seems that beauty procedures can make us look much better and if we want to change something big about our appearance, it’s totally within the realm of possibility. But in fact, many of us have some genetic features that no surgeon would dare change. And if you still believe that there are shampoos that can make your hair thicker, this article is definitely for you.
Bright Side learned about the limitations of modern plastic surgery.
The waist and its width are determined by the width of the ribs and pelvic bones, and also the distance between them, the body’s shape, and the epigastric angle. So, if a woman’s shape is originally more rectangular, exhausting workouts and strict diets can’t help her to get the waist she wants.
Some people want to have the “hourglass” body shape, so they are ready to have a very difficult surgery that involves removing ribs. But such surgeries can lead to complications like floating kidneys, bronchitis, and pyelonephritis. So, the best thing to do is to learn to love yourself and be able to find clothing that highlights the best parts of your body.
Skin health depends on genes. The level of hydration, the production of collagen, and hyaluronic acid are the things that make the skin smooth, shiny, and elastic. These things are purely genetic. This is why some women have stretch marks and some just don’t.
Everyone knows that they should take care of their skin, eat good food, and stay hydrated. And you should understand that cosmetologists still don’t have any magic recipes, anti-aging creams, or products that remove stretch marks. Also, there is nothing terrible about stretch marks: 8 out of 10 women and men have them.
3. Blood type
Our blood type is inherited from our parents and stays unchanged throughout our entire lives. People with different blood types have their own health features. Japanese scientists found that different blood type owners are predisposed to have different diseases. So, people who have the O blood type have the blood that doesn’t coagulate as well as other types. People whose blood type is A are less inclined to having colds. People with B blood type are more resistant to different viruses but have a higher chance of having otitis and cystitis. The people who have the most rare blood type — AB (just 3% of the population of the planet) may have colds more often because their immune systems are weaker.
There are many blood-transfusion-related problems: despite the strict rules, sometimes during procedures, doctors make mistakes. This is why American scientists have been working toward developing a method for changing the blood type and announced their first results in 2018. But the method is far from final.
Having freckles is caused by a gene that is responsible for the hair and skin color. They don’t appear when a child is born and instead appear a little later, after the skin has been exposed to sunlight. Many people don’t like this type of skin feature and dream of getting rid of it once and for all. But the modern cosmetic industry is unable to get rid of freckles completely. Doctors can only lighten them a little. And the funny thing is that while some people are looking for ways to get rid of them, others use henna (or even get tattoos) to draw freckles on their skin.
5. Head shape
The researchers at Imperial College in London determined that there are some facial features that depend on genes more than others. The leaders are the shape and the size of the head and the tip of the nose. Recently, cranioplasty is becoming more and more popular. It uses implants to increase the size of the forehead or the back of the head. It is still impossible to change the skull shape completely or change the size of the head. This plastic surgery is considered to be very hard and it is likely to cause complications like headaches, dizziness, and seizures.
6. Hair texture
The thickness of the hair depends on our genes and the diameter of hair follicles. Every person has a predetermined number of hair follicles and there is no way to change it using shampoo or medication. Cosmetic products that are supposed to change the hair structure only make the hair look more voluminous, but don’t actually add permanent volume to the hair.
7. Face symmetry
Here’s some news: in the world, there are no men or women whose faces are absolutely symmetrical. This is why all of us are completely unique. Modern surgery might allow us to change some little flaws in our appearance, like our bite, or a drooping eyelid, but there is still no way to change the distance between the eyes.
8. Life expectancy
Everyone knows that life expectancy depends a lot on genes. If there are people who lived a long life in your family, there is a huge chance that you will too. Recently, American biologists found that genes only determine about 10-15% and the rest depends on the environment and lifestyle. And scientists from Vanderbilt University think that life expectancy depends on the number of neurons in a person’s brain. But at this point, there is still no way to influence life expectancy.
Is there anything you would like to change about your appearance or are you completely satisfied?
