Even though the virus has stopped us from doing a lot of things we want to do, some things can’t really be paused. For example, women are still going into labor. Holidays are still happening, even though they look a little different. And teeth are falling out. Naturally, of course. For the most part. You can’t stop the process of growing up, which means that plenty of kids out there are losing their baby teeth and welcoming their permanent teeth.

For many children, the tooth fairy is an important part of this transaction. She makes things a little less scary. What does she do with the teeth? We’ll never know, exactly. But she usually leaves a small monetary gift during the night that makes the whole thing worth it.

Here’s the problem with the tooth fairy right now. She, obviously, has to get pretty close to the kids she sees. And because of social distancing, that might make the procedure a little tricky. Some parents might have the child leave the tooth by their door to avoid the problem. Or maybe you can just make sure that the tooth fairy has a mask.

That’s what 7-year-old Evolette Westhouse did. And her mom delivered. She sewed the tiniest of face masks to protect the tooth fairy, who’d be visiting many children that night. It’s a very cute idea, and something you can copy at home if you’re in a similar situation.
