There’s been a lot of awful news lately. But for every sad story we hear, it seems that people are stepping up to ease the pain from all the loss that’s been happening around the world. When it comes to people caring for animals who have lost their owners, that’s been certainly true. People all over have been taking in animals who need homes, even if they didn’t expect to wind up with a new pet. One savvy tortoise who goes by the name “Ms. Jennifer” has found a new home after losing her owner.

Ms. Jennifer, who is 53-years-old, arrived at the SPCA after her owner passed away due to the virus. She was quickly adopted. But the most heartwarming part of the story is that there was a massive amount of interest in the little reptile. Rescuers said they received around 3,000 inquiries from people who were hoping to adopt her.

Clearly, there is something really special about Ms. Jennifer. Could it be her adorable name? Her wise, old age? Or perhaps people just really wanted to do something good by taking her in. Of course, only one lucky owner could wind up with the old/new tortoise. But everyone’s hearts were certainly in the right place.

As for now, Ms. Jennifer has found an amazing new home — with a tortoise expert, at that.
