Hey, my name is Max, I am a puppy and very soon I will move from being with my brothers and sisters to my very own family. I am so excited about it but there are a few things I would like for my new family to know.
I met these guys at Bright Side and they are such awesome dog lovers. So I thought that I should pass this message through them.
It’s a message from me, Max, or it might be from Rex or Bella, the name doesn’t matter because it could be any pup’s name. The bottom line, it is YOUR puppy talking to you.
I will only live for 10 or 15 years. Every minute when I am not with you is very upsetting for me. Remember that.
Give me a little time to understand what you want from me. I want to do the right thing, just help me to figure out what the right thing is. Help me to become the best dog for you.
If you ever decide to hurt me, think about this. I could easily crush every single bone in your hand, but I choose to never do that. Because our friendship is more important to me than anything else.
Don’t lock me up and don’t ignore me as punishment if I have done something wrong. You have family, friends, job, hobbies — all I have is YOU.
Help me to learn to trust you. The trust I have in you will be my entire world. Please, don’t crush it.
I can’t speak your language but my body will tell you how I feel.
Remember, I will never forget how I have been treated. I will forgive but I won’t forget. I love you to the max from the first day I met you, please don’t take advantage of that.
Don’t be too angry with me if I have been a bit naughty. I am just a kid. Help me to grow.
Talk to me. I may not understand every word that you are saying to me, but I can hear your voice and it means the world to me.
Don’t forget to brush my teeth, I cannot do it myself. Start brushing them when I am still a pup so I get used to it.
Keep in mind that some of your food is poisonous for me. In fact, just don’t give me your food. I will be asking for it because it smells so yummy but, please, be strong and don’t give it to me, if I get fat it will ruin my health.
If you see that I don’t have as much energy as I used to, don’t be angry or disappointed in me. Maybe I am not feeling well, maybe my food is not right for me, maybe my heart has started getting old.
Look after me and take care of me when I get older, one day you will also be old. I am very sorry that I age so quickly, I don’t mean to upset you, but I can’t change it.
Be with me even if difficult decisions have to be made. Don’t say “I can’t see it, it’s too hard.” I am scared too. But I can handle anything if you are with me. Stay with me…
