At just 11 years old, Sky Brown knows what she wants and she’s working her way there. The half-British, half-Japanese young lady is an amazing skateboarder. She’s on Team Great Britain and is working hard to make her Olympic debut in the Summer 2020 games in Tokyo.

Sky lives in Japan but often finds herself in California, where she competes to increase her exposure. She’s been competing since she was seven and was the youngest girl to ever compete in the Vans U.S. Open as a professional.

“I just want to skate,” Sky told CBS News. “I just love skateboarding, it is my happy place. Even if I fall or if I get hurt, that won’t stop me to do what I love,” she proclaimed. “I don’t care what happens to me. I want to skate.”

Sky also has an important message for her fans: she wants them to know that while she’s a serious skateboarder and surfer, she’s also a girly-girl. Contrary to popular belief, you can be both. “I love makeup, dresses, jewelry. I want girls to know that they can be a girly-girl and do sports,” she said.

Sky’s working hard to make her dreams come true, but like everyone, she knows she has some things to learn. She doesn’t have a coach, so she often turns to YouTube for skating inspiration. “If I see somebody do that trick, I’ll be like, ‘I wanna try that,’” Sky said. “I, like, watch YouTube. Keep doing it and doing it until I make it.”

This 11-year-old is incredibly tenacious and she’s sure to do some big things in the future. Watch the video to see Sky in action!
