Cars are meant to make lives easier. But with the purchase of a car you also get a package of additional responsibilities and expenses that, on the contrary, can make your life more difficult. And no one wants that.
That’s why in this article Bright Side will share some tips with you that will help you truly own the car.
1. Key fob to the head
Have you found yourself in a situation where you can’t remember where you left your car and the parking lot is way too big for you to easily find it? Put the key fob to your head and press the “unlock” button. Your head will play the role of a conductor and it will extend the range of the signal, so you will hopefully have more luck in locating your vehicle.
2. Line the cupholders
To make the process of cleaning the cupholders easier, put cupcake liners inside. This will help catch spills or crumbs and, besides being practical, it can also help add a nice touch of color to a boring black interior.
3. Use some oil
To make the inside of your car look brand new and polished, put some olive oil on a cloth and rub the surfaces. It will give a nice shine to dull consoles. But be careful with putting it on the steering wheel, you don’t want to make it slippery and create a dangerous situation.
4. Squeegee for pet hair
Pets are cute until they start shedding in the backseat of your car and a car vacuum can’t always pick up all of the hair. But a simple tool like a squeegee can help you collect all of it. You can wet the area and “comb” it with a squeegee.
5. Winter parking
No one wants to waste precious time in the morning scraping off ice from the windshield in the winter. A simple solution for this is to park facing east. This way when the sun is rising, it will melt the ice and save you time.
6. Apply some nail polish
If your windshield has a little crack, but you can’t get it repaired just yet, try putting some clear nail polish on it. It’s not noticeable, it will help hold the pieces together, and should prevent the crack from spreading further.
7. Tablet holder
If you can’t find a tablet holder, you’re running late, and kids just don’t want to cooperate you can use a bungee cord, wrap it around the headrest part of the seat, and put the tablet in the hooks. It’s a quick and cheap solution.
8. Air freshener
An alternative solution to buying fancy car air fresheners is to get some wax melts, put them in a cup, and place it inside your vehicle. When the weather is hot, the temperature in the car will rise, and the wax will melt leaving a nice smell.
9. Pay attention to trucks
Trucks can be intimidating, especially for new drivers. You need to pay attention to them not only because it can save your life in case of an accident, but also because truck drivers communicate with each other through radios. They tell each other which lane is moving faster and if there is an accident. So, for example, if a truck is slowing down, you might want to do the same.
10. Keep your wheels straight
In a situation where you need to make a difficult or a quick turn, it’s important to not turn your wheels beforehand. It may seem convenient and time-saving, but if someone hits your car from behind you’ll go straight into the oncoming lane.
