“I mean, there’s nobody who hasn’t felt that way at a junket.”

Recently, the man, the myth, the meme Ben Affleck, gave an interview about his public perception — including the “Sad Affleck” meme — and how he’s worried about his kids’ reactions.

For context, “Sad Affleck” started after a viral 2017 interview where Ben and Henry Cavill were asked about the negative Batman vs. Superman reviews, and… Well, Ben’s face probably sums it up.

Hello darkness my old friend.

“I got to a place where [the public perception] was so different from who I am that I just stopped reading and stopped caring,” Ben told the Los Angeles Times. “But then, as my kids got older and started seeing the internet themselves, that’s the difficult part.”

“Even the ‘Sad Affleck’ meme — that was funny to me. I mean, there’s nobody who hasn’t felt that way at a junket,” he continued.

However, Ben went on to admit that he did get concerned that his kids might take the memes literally, saying: “But then my kids see it and I think, ‘Oh, are they going to think their dad is fundamentally sad or they have to worry about me?’ That’s really tough.”

This isn’t the first time Ben has spoken about the meme — he previously said in 2017 that the experience, “Taught me not to do interviews with Henry Cavill where I don’t say anything and they can lay Simon and Garfunkel tracks over it. That’s one thing I learned.”
