3. Apple cider vinegar

What to do: Add one tablespoon to a glass of warm water and soak it for a few minutes. You can repeat this daily until you are happy with the results.

6 Clever Ways to Bring Your Leather Stuff Back to Life

Even though leather is a considerably durable material, wear and tear show no mercy to it. Sometimes a scratch appears out of nowhere on your leather bags or a split occurs on your favorite pair of leather shoes. If you notice any of these things, don’t panic! The damage is reversible and you can still save your favorite leather materials in a heartbeat.

Here at Bright Side, we have some tips for you on how to restore your leather items and make them look like brand new again.

1. How to restore leather shoes using super glue:

Even if you think it’s hopeless, a really deep tear in your leather boots can turn invisible using superglue.

How to restore a split:

  • Apply some super glue to the tip of a toothpick.
  • Hold the leather side that split in half and apply the super glue to the inside of the leather.
  • Then take a smooth cloth and press hard on the leather to hold the superglue on to the skin firmly. Make sure you apply a tiny bit of superglue to prevent it from leaking and covering the outside of the leather.
  • Hold it in place for 1-2 minutes.

How to restore a scratch:

  • Using a toothpick again, apply some super glue on the tip of it.
  • Then try to fill in the scratch with the super glue using very light movements.
  • Let it sit for 2-3 minutes.
  • Finally, find some leather paint whose color is identical to the color of your shoes and apply 2-3 layers on top.
  • Let it dry.

2. How to remove scratches from leather shoes using wax:

For this tip, you can use paste wax; preferably one containing beeswax in order to ensure durability, stain, and oil protection.

How to use it:

  • Using a clothing brush, brush the damaged leather surface to remove any fluff or dirt that might have gotten stuck in the scratches.
  • Then apply some paste wax on a clean cotton rag and lightly buff it onto your shoes.
  • Using a clean area of the cotton rag, buff the wax paste again to remove any excess.
  • Let it sit there for 5-10 minutes.
  • Then, apply 2 or 3 layers of the same color leather paint on top and let it dry.

3. How to remove scratches from leather using olive oil:

Olive oil can make leather sparkle and look like brand new again when used correctly. It might seem unconventional but olive oil can be used to nourish leather skin especially when it becomes dry after prolonged wear.

How to use olive oil:

  • Take a clean cotton rag and apply some olive oil to it.
  • Then using light circular motions, start rubbing the olive oil on top of the scratch and the surrounding area.
  • Let it sit there until it is completely absorbed and dry.

If the scratch is still visible, take it a step further:

  • Apply some olive oil on the scratched leather skin.
  • Using a clean rag, dip it in some water and squeeze out the excess water.
  • Apply it on top of the scratch.
  • Turn on your clothing iron and when it’s ready, place it on top of the dampened cloth for a few seconds.
  • Then, cover the scratched area completely using some shoe polish on a q-tip.
  • Finally, remove the excess polish using a sponge.

4. How to remove a scratch from patent leather using nail polish:

When it comes to patent leather or in plain words, leather that has been treated with varnish, the process of removing a scratch is quite easy. Mainly because the glossy finish applied on the leather provides extra hardened protection. Caring for leather that has been treated with varnish only requires cleaning it and keeping it shiny. You can do that by using items that you have available in your own home.

How to use it:

  • Fill a bowl with lukewarm water and add a few drops of washing liquid.
  • Using a clean cotton rag, dip it into the mixture and apply it to the leather surface where the scratches appear.
  • After that, get a clean cotton rag again and wipe it until it becomes dry.

43-year-old Kimberly Santleben-Stitler was married for 14 years before she and her now ex-husband called it quits. And like a True Texan who believes in going big or going home, Kimberly decided to blow up her wedding dress in a spectacular fashion.

She received some help from her father and brother-in-law in crafting the explosive finale to her divorcee party. She donned a T-Shirt that read, “Y’all I’m single AF.” In an interview with the Centre Daily Times, she said that she went through such great lengths to destroy the dress because, “it represented a lie.”

How she blew it up was pretty insane, too: she shot at the dress with a rifle rigged with 20 pounds of explosives. The subsequent blast was heard by people at least 15 miles away.

Kimberly’s hilarious, overly-Texan reaction to her divorce is getting both cheers and jeers from people on social media.

The critics don’t seem to faze Kimberly too much. She seems to be enjoying the high life. She even set a photo of the act as her Facebook profile picture.

Although she opted to go for a huge gesture in celebrating her life after divorce, she doesn’t recommend others do the same, unless they’re well-versed in the art of pyrotechnics:

“I would only recommend it for people that know how to use this stuff,” she said in an interview with Circa.

What to do:

  • Lie flat on your stomach with your chin on the floor and your arms placed at your sides.

  • Inhale and lift your heels up to the ceiling and your thighs away from the floor. Pull your upper torso and head off the floor at the same time.
  • Hold the position for 10 seconds.

3. Camel pose

What to do:

4. Cobra pose

What to do:

  • Lie flat on your stomach, stretch your legs back, and place the tops of your feet on the floor.
  • Put your hands on the floor right under your shoulders.
  • Inhale and begin to lift your chest off the floor by straightening your arms. Press your tailbone toward the floor and curl your spine by slowly lowering your head backward until you feel a stretch.
  • Hold the position for about 15-30 seconds, then release back to the floor with an exhalation.

Results: Cobra pose will help you lengthen the front muscles of your neck and realign the shoulders in order to restore a natural curve in your spine.

5. The chin tuck exercise

What to do:

  • Sit upright and place your fingers on your chin.
  • Keeping your eyes on the horizon, gently push your chin back toward your throat until you feel a stretch at the base of your head.
  • Hold the position for 5 seconds, then bring your chin forward again.
  • Repeat 10 times.

Results: The chin tuck exercise will help you align your head directly over the torso, relieve the compression in your spine, and reduce the tightness in your neck muscles.

6. The corner stretch

What to do:

  • Face a corner of your room. Stand with your feet together about 2 feet away from the walls.
  • Put both forearms on the walls in front of you. Keep your elbows slightly below the height of your shoulders.
  • Lean toward the corner until you feel a stretch in your chest and shoulders.
  • Hold the pose for 30-60 seconds, then return to the initial position.

7. Neck stretches

What to do:

  • To perform a front neck stretch, slowly bend your chin down to your chest and hold the position for 15 seconds. Then lift your head back to the starting position. After this, bend your head backwards and hold the pose for 15 seconds as well. Repeat the exercise 10 times from both positions.
  • To do a side neck stretch, tilt your head directly to the left, drawing your left ear towards your left shoulder. Hold the position for 30 seconds, then return to the initial position and repeat the stretch with the other side. Do a total amount of 10 repetitions.

Results: Neck stretches will help you restore proper alignment as well as prevent muscle tightness and pain in the neck.

  • Keep your device at eye level. When using your phone, instead of lowering your head forward, try to keep a neutral spine so that your ears are in line with your shoulders.
