The Internet Is Obsessed with One Girl's Impeccable Attempt at Class Photos

image

Thanks to the internet, there is no shortage of class photos that are so absolutely priceless, they make us wish we hadn’t already graduated college. As fall rolls in and students everywhere are adapting to new schedules and getting their grasp on more homework and papers to write, it’s becoming every parent’s favorite time of the year: picture day.

I distinctly remember picture day growing up. It wasn’t as fun as it might have been for my non-uniformed peers who got to wear their favorite outfits and immortalize their youthful sense of fashion with academic backdrops of chalkboards and children’s books. But believe me when I say that the year I rocked braces and glasses was priceless enough, both for my memory all these years later and for my parents who received proofs of my ugly duckling “phase” in the mail.

And while I just shudder to think of those photos and whether my family even purchased any that year, other students are delighting the world — or at least, the internet — with their creative, hilarious, and inspiring attempts at picture day.

Addison’s class photos went viral when her mom, Laura Pyle, posted about them on Facebook.

She wrote:

Y’all. THIS IS THE BEST [SCREW] UP I HAVE EVER DONE.

I let Addison pick her dress out for picture day. She picked a green dress. I didn’t think anything of it… Until I received the email with her proofs in it.

THERE ARE 87 STYLES. I NEED THEM ALL.

I originally ordered the purple.

And Laura even shared a sneak peek into these 87 ingenious pictures.

It’s not exactly obvious from these headshots what makes the photos so incredibly unique and priceless, but if you’ve read about Addison’s outfit carefully, you might be able to imagine what’s coming.

Yup, that’s right. Her favorite dress, which Laura told Distractify “is currently a sparkly green number,” blended perfectly into all the academic and pastoral settings the photographer switched out for the green screen backdrop the class photos were taken against.

“I told her she could choose her picture day outfit and that’s what she asked to wear,” her mother told us.

So imagine her surprise when she opened an email attachment from the school and realized just how incredible her daughter’s class photos were:

imageimage

I mean… WOW. It doesn’t matter if the photo’s shot in landscape or in portrait, with a backdrop scene of foliage or a patriotic American flag. It’s sheer perfection that actually only gets better the more class pictures of Addison you see.

image

My personal favorite part of these pictures is how her dress shimmers no matter what color it turns into.

I asked Laura how she felt about her daughter’s sartorial choices, down to the beautiful necklace she chose to pair with her green dress. Laura says the necklace was one her “mother selected for [Addison] when she was a baby, before passing from cancer.”

As for the photos? “I was completely surprised,” she told Distractify. “I wasn’t thinking, and it never crossed my mind that her photographer might use a green screen.”

Come to think of it, this might be a modern technique, because I’m pretty sure school photographers brought their own classic blue-white-ish seamless that they rolled out and placed on a stand before asking us all to say “cheese.”

image

“I posted a few screenshots on my page to give my friends and family a laugh at my mom-brain fail, and only made it public when a few asked to share,” Laura continued. “We still find her photos hilarious, we laugh every time we see them.”

image

To be honest, so do we. Especially at that impressive shimmer. As for Addison’s reaction to going viral?

She is “loving all the wonderful comments she received from all over the world,” gushed her mom.

image

The pictures are absolutely priceless, and I hope she keeps enough of them to be able to tell her kids how she became internet-famous at such a young age.

“We all have a healthy sense of humor, so we absolutely love them,” said Laura of the Pyle family. “And I love that so many people are getting a chuckle from my screw-up.”

image

We commend Addison for her incredible foresight, which led to the most hilarious class photos to unintentionally grace the internet.

I even asked the mom if Addison would keep her personal green-screen trend going up until high school graduation, as that would make for an amazing photo album over the years.

“She already asked me if she could,” she replied. “Now that she knows what happens.”

Keep up the viral fame, Addison! We look forward to your photos next year.

One Girl's Picture Day Fail Made for This Year's Best Class Photos

This Girl's Younger Brother Made the Sweetest Gesture After Finding out They're Half-Siblings

image

There’s a kind of innocence that little kids have that makes them simultaneously beautiful and infuriating. The frustration is real when they constantly ask you questions they don’t know the answer to.

In this instance with Twitter user @PamTina_, her “annoying” kid brother was the former: absolutely wholesome and pure.

When Pam’s younger brother discovered that he and his sister aren’t “fully” related, his reaction was an adorable one.

It moved her to tears and left a huge impression, so she decided to share photos of what her brother did on Twitter, where everyone was absolutely in love with his reaction.

Growing up, my older brother would joke that I wasn’t really a part of the family: that our mom and dad found me in a garbage can and felt bad for me.

Although I knew he was probably lying, there was still a time period where I believed him — and it got me thinking that he and I are weren’t actually related. Which was a bit comforting at the time, considering how much we were at each other’s throats when we were younger.

I definitely wouldn’t have given my older brother a whole bunch of his favorite snacks, like Pam’s brother did, if I’d found out we were half-siblings.

And I most certainly wouldn’t attach a heartfelt letter, either.

Her younger brother’s message was an adorably sweet one — he tells Pam, in light of his discovery that they aren’t a fully biological brother-sister duo, that no matter what, how he sees her and feels about her hasn’t changed at all.

They’re 100% siblings in his book, for better or for worse. Here’s his letter in full:

“I just wanted to let you know how much I love you. I don’t care what people say, you are always going to be my sister — my full blooded sister. You are the best thing that happened to me, I love you with all my heart. Thank you for helping me on my worst and thank you for leading me the right way. I will always be there for you, just like you always been there for me. I love you.

With love,

Your annoying brother. <3

People were floored by her younger brother’s reaction and got a bit emotional themselves after seeing Pam’s tweet.

The tears were flowing for real.

Some shared stories of their own sweet younger sibling encounters.

And some of the encounters weren’t so sweet.

Like this one woman who asked her younger brother why he didn’t show her love the way Pam’s brother did. The response she got was great, but for an entirely different reason.

And although Pam’s interaction with her younger brother was absolutely heartwarming, we all know that different people show love in different ways.

If it’s purity you’re looking for, then this guy’s story about his 8-year-old brother who just learned how to text will melt your heart.

Or take a look at this girl’s older brother who pranks her mercilessly at every turn.

Ah, youth.

People Are Devastated By This Girl's Heartbreaking Post About Celebrating The School Year With Her Mom

There are a million posts about graduation right now, with young people celebrating their big accomplishment with friends and family. Twitter is truly at its most inspirational. However, not everyone has everybody around that they’d like to be there for their big day. Recent high school graduate and Twitter user @nanatat07 shared a story about her yearly celebration with her mom that has gone viral for being so heartbreaking and beautiful.

She shared pictures she took with her mother over the last four years of her education, and wrote this caption:

“Yesterday was my last day of high school. For 4 years I’ve taken pictures with my mom on my first and last days of school. She wasn’t able to make it for the last one, but her strength motivated me to stay strong during this time. All of my hard work is for her!”

You can see her and her mom through the years, getting ice cream and shakes in honor of the big days in their shared lives, but in the final one, @nanatat07 is seated at her mother’s head stone.

In one photo it appears that her mother has lost her hair:

And begun to grow it back by the beginning of her daughter’s senior year:

It’s incredible that @nanatat07 was able to finish her school year, even with such an enormous loss taking place. It’s a testament to her mom’s influence and care that she reached the high school finish line.

People were deeply moved by her story, and absolutely certain that her mom would be incredibly proud of everything she’s done:

A lot of people noticed that @nanatat07 had brought a Starbucks cup to her mom’s grave, as though to share a special treat with her one last time. Everyone was crying.

A number of people shared their own stories of losing parents at a young age, often while in school. It’s a group no one wants to belong to, but here they are supporting each other on Twitter:

Clearly, @nanatat07 didn’t expect her tweet to go viral, but she has responded by saying how deeply moved she is by everyone’s response and support.

Love lives forever.

This Girl's Boyfriend Died A Month Before Prom, His Father Made Sure She Still Went

The worst part about life is that it ultimately ends. We all want that day to be as far as possible from all of us, which is why it’s always especially tragic when someone young passes away.

Sadly, Carter Brown’s parents had to endure that tragedy when they learned their 19-year-old son was involved in a fatal car crash.

He was driving from Indiana State University back to his hometown in Pennyslavania to surprise his girlfriend, Kaylee Sauders, a month before her senior prom.

Kaylee, along with Carter’s family were devastated by the news. How does one react to the sudden loss of somebody, especially a person you were in love with?

Understandably, Kaylee wasn’t interested in attending her senior prom, but Carter’s father didn’t want her to miss such an important moment in her life. So he came up with a brilliant idea.

Carter’s father asked Kaylee if he could take her to the prom so they could both honor the memory of Carter and so she wouldn’t have to miss her special day.

She immediately accepted, and the whole thing was incredibly touching.

“I didn’t have to think about it. I definitely said ‘yes’,” Kaylee told the Centre Daily Times.

Kaylee went on to say that if it wasn’t for Carter’s dad making the suggestion, she would’ve never thought to attend prom.

“It meant a lot that he kind of stepped up and took the role, because it was my senior prom and I didn’t want to go any more,” she said.

Carter’s father made sure that Kaylee got a full pre-prom photoshoot experience as well. He started it off by rolling up in his car to pick her up.

For them to have something to smile and laugh about under the circumstances is amazing.

They got all of the prom poses down pat: you’ve got the car shots.

Along with the obligatory ridiculous stances.

When the photographer says, “let’s do a silly one” you want to roll your eyes, but come on, it’s basically a prom tradition.

Carter’s mother, Kelly O’Neil, shared the photos on her Facebook account with a funny and touching message.

She’s super proud of her husband and was struck by the beautiful gesture he came up with to both honor their son and ensure Kaylee got to attend her senior prom.

“He’s truly amazing, he is a gift. Carter was in college. He wasn’t super excited about going to a high school prom, but he was excited about doing that for Kaylee. … Rob didn’t like the idea of Kaylee not getting that.”

Carter’s father was basically making good on a promise that his son made to Kaylee, and the idea of a father doing that for his son, so soon after his passing, is enough to make you think people are chopping onions in the room.

When Kaylee arrived at prom with Carter’s dad, everyone thought it was a beautiful gesture.

The Browns, unfortunately, have dealt with a lot of tragedy as of late.

Just seven months prior, in September 2017, their oldest son, Christopher Brown, passed away at just 23 years old.

“We lost Chris in September. Seven months apart, it’s an awful lot. This gave us something to be excited about. So that was also kind of a gift to have something fun to look forward to. It was big deal for all of us.”

For Kaylee and the Brown family, her senior prom was an event to get excited about after such terrible losses.

We can’t control what happens in our lives for the most part, but we can control our reactions. And this was a heck of a good one.
